The customer for this rifle wanted a rifle based
on an early period design, but with Scottish themes important to his
family incorporated into the design of the carving, etc. Hence a clan
logo, thistles, and other items were incorporated to meet this request.
The rifle is based on a Christian Springs rifle
style generally. The crest is a variation of a Campbell clan crest.
Oil based true violin varnish in an amber color was used for the stain,
as Northampton County and others appear to have used violin varnish
on their rifles.
