This customer desired a Reading style rifle with
a hard roman nose, but in left hand, and with iron browned. The style
of rifle and carving is taken directly from two rifles in Rifles of
Colonial America book widely used as a text reference by gunmakers.
Aqua Fortis acid stain was used, and oil varnish derived from old
techniques was used over the neutralized acid stain.
